Some useful tips for your driving lessons and driving test.
« on: April 05, 2019, 12:53:53 PM »
1. Find the right instructor.

This is very important imo. One that you can trust and feel comfortable with. Donít be afraid to book a tester lesson too and if you are not comfortable then move on to the next instructor! You will be spending an average of 30 Ė 40 hours together so finding a good instructor will not only increase your chances of passing first time but may also reduce the amount of hours needed to reach test standard.

2) Make sure youíve had enough lessons.

It might sound obvious, but donít take your driving test until youíre good and ready. Do not rush. Lots of people fail the driving test just because they havenít taken enough lessons to pass. Thereís no point in taking the driving test until your driving instructor says youíre ready. Youíre likely to waste your time and money if you take it too soon.

3) Mock drive tests.

During the lessons period, ask the instructor if you can do a drive test route and do a little role playas well by preteding that he is the examinator and you are doing the official test drive. It will help a lot for when you will really have to do the test drive. You can also ask your instructors if he/she will have any tips for you for the drive test.

4) Always look for learning opportunities.

As a passenger put yourself, figuratively at least, in the driving seat. At junctions or roundabouts run through your mirror, signal manoeuvre steps just as you would do during a driving test. The more you do this, the more it will become second nature to you. During the test itself, you ideally want this to be second nature.

5) Good night rest.

The night before the driving test make sure to get a good night sleep so you will be fresh and have a clear mind for the big day.

6) A good meal and preparations.

The big day has come. No need to be nervous. Make sure that you eat well and take all the necesassry things with you that you will need for the driving test, such as your id etc.

7) A final driving lesson.

Make sure to take another driving lesson before the driving test. Everything will be fresh in your mind before the official test drive.

8 Stay calm during the driving test, donít panic.

Itís only natural to feel overwhelmed Ė particularly if you make a mistake, if you are not sure how to proceed, or if your mind goes blank at a crucial juncture.

Whatever you may think about your performance on the day, you must remember that the examiner owns the final opinion. This works both ways; you could feel you have failed following a mishap or lapse in concentration. Remember though, if you have addressed the issue correctly and done all you can to maintain the safety of yourself and other road users, the examiner may think that you have done everything properly, and therefore wonít fail you.

I hope that these tips will help you in getting your driving license. Good luck :)
